Obituary for Mary Purdy Williamson
It is with heartfelt gratitude that we announce the going home of our beloved mother, Mary Purdy Williamson, on December 5, 2024 at the age of 72. While we will miss her presence, we celebrate the remarkable life she lived, deeply aligned with God’s divine purpose and timing.
Mary was Born on February 21, 1952 to Miller Purdy & Lillie Bell Murray. Mary was a nurturing spirit who devoted her life to her family and community. She is survived by her three cherished children: Monifa Purdy, Ernestine Purdy, and Ricardo Purdy.

Step grandchildren: Daishawn, Tyvon, Daija, Talisha.
She was wife to her loving husband, Ricardo Williamson until his going home on January 19, 2019. Mary’s legacy also includes her siblings, Donald Purdy, Eugene Purdy, and Leon Purdy, who shared in her journey of love and support before they’re going home. Mary is also survived by a large host of cousins and supportive friends who shared there love and support for each other endlessly.
Mary attended York College and dedicated her career to public service, working at Bridge and Tunnel as well as the United States Post Office. Throughout her life, she focused on raising her children, ensuring they had the tools and encouragement they needed to succeed in their respective careers. Her unwavering belief in them was a testament to her strength and dedication as a mother.
A devoted friend and community member, Mary embodied kindness and compassion. She embraced her role as a caretaker, always ready to lend a hand or offer words of encouragement, reflecting her deep understanding of oneness with the divine.
As we gather to honor her memory, we find comfort in the belief that Mary is now embraced by the divine, fulfilling her purpose in profound ways. While we may miss her physical absence, we are uplifted by the assurance that spiritually she is at peace, aligned with God’s loving plan.
We carry her spirit within us, knowing that love transcends time and space. Together, we honor her legacy and the divine connection we share, celebrating a life well-lived and the many ways she touched our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Mary, knowing you are forever loved and in alignment with the divine.
