ADDISON ISIDORE HYPOLITE
WE CELEBRATE HIS LIFE AND LEGACY
“Perfect Submission all is at rest,
Safe with my Savior, now happy and blessed,
Filled with His Goodness and lost in His Love!”
Although there’s deep pain and sorrow at the sudden transition of our beloved Addison Isadore Hypolite, we surrender
to Divine Order and God’s omniscience.
Addison, the second son of Thelma (née Hinkson) and Lennox Hypolite and younger brother to Steve (all deceased),
was born on April 4, 1973 in Queens, New York. His upbringing was in a nurturing home, complemented by formative
education at Junior Academy Christian School and St. John’s Preparatory School, a Roman Catholic High School, both
on New York. During this time, he was recognized as an Eagle Scout, the highest award attainable in the Scouting
Program of America. He also served with dedication and purposefulness as an altar server at his parish church, St.
Mary Magdalene. His tertiary level education began at Howard University and culminated at the University of District
of Columbia where he graduated summa cum laude in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture. In
2008, he earned a Master of Science Degree from Morgan State University. He was a loyal member of Tau Beta Pi
Honor Society and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He was also known for being a quintessential New Yorker, whose
command of the vernacular amused all that dared to conversate with him.
Despite his “back to back” appointments and hectic work schedule at Dyacom Technological Industries in Maryland,
where he worked from 1997 to 2003, Addison demonstrated his passion for nurturing and mentoring young adults.
With his characteristic warm, generous spirit, he offered guidance towards the development pf productive citizenship
among his mentees. He fostered lasting relationships in the community. When the family moved from Maryland to
Florida, it was no surprise that he switched to a career in education with a mindset geared to making a positive impact
on children’s lives.
Addison will be remembered as a “gentle giant”, as described by all who knew him. He brought joy, loyalty, and
kindness to everyone and selflessly engaged in the service of others, always volunteering to resolve problems and
bring quietude to unstable situations.
Addison fully embraced the family traditions and enjoyed his Trinidadian heritage, culture and customs, especially the
excitement of Carnival, the exhilarating energy of Soca music and the relaxing warm beaches. His fascination with
diversity, alternate lifestyles, and policies motivated his travels to other geographical regions and about 30 different
countries. And he enjoyed every minute of every adventure!
After 28 years of marriage to Quornelia, Addison is survived by his beloved sons Reginald, Kenneth and Emmanuel,
his cherished baby granddaughter, Naomi Grace, his loving aunts and cousins, extended relatives, his Fraternity
brothers-in-service, his long-standing “do or die” buddies, Cedric Dudley and Shyheim Price, his 10 mentees and
numerous friends. His memory will be forever treasured and highly valued as we adjust to his transition from this
earthly realm.
Addison fought the good fight, kept the faith to run his race with courage and determination. He completed his God –
given earthly assignments with perseverance, dignity, pride and love. It was his “time”. His race was finished. God
reached out with His Hand of Mercy “Come!” He whispered, and lovingly ushered Addison into the room that was
already prepared for him in His Eternal Paradise of Peace and Divine Love. We stand on God’s promises, believing
that Addison’s life has changed, not ended, and that The Holy Spirit will comfort our troubled hearts.
